Born on December 28th in Maiduguri, Borno State, Maimuna Yaya Abubakar hails from a respected Fulani family in Gombe State. As the third of eight siblings, her upbringing instilled values of determination and achievement.
Education: Maimuna’s educational journey led her through the esteemed Federal Government Girls’ College in Bauchi. After completing her SSCE/WASC in 1994, she pursued higher learning at Bayero University, Kano, where she earned an LLB in Law and a Master’s in Business and Commercial Law. Her legal journey culminated with her call to the Nigerian Bar in 2003.
Career Highlights: Maimuna embarked on a successful public service career, beginning at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), where she excelled as Assistant Manager and Team Leader for Business Names. She later transitioned into private enterprise before returning to the public sector in 2018. Her exceptional leadership was evident during her tenure as the Chairman of the NIPOST Governing Board from 2018 to 2023.
Business Ventures: Maimuna founded Limestone Solicitors in 2007, a legal consulting firm known for its comprehensive legal and paralegal services in Nigeria. Under her guidance, Limestone Solicitors thrived, thanks to the expertise and synergy of its legal experts.
Tozali Magazine and TV: Maimuna’s passion project, Tozali Magazine and TV, has become a beacon of cultural celebration. Recognizing a gap in the market, she launched Tozali Magazine to spotlight and celebrate Northern Nigerian women, their culture, and achievements. This endeavor, which started modestly, has blossomed into an engaging publication that covers diverse topics beyond gender issues. With its presence on multiple pay TV platforms across Africa, Tozali TV now shares this celebration with a broader audience.

Continued Growth: Maimuna’s vision continues to expand with the introduction of content production company and the establishment of Tozali TV as a full-fledged channel. Tozali Tv is airings in more than 4 platforms , which includes 393 DSTV , 183 Startimes, 18 GOtv and 288 Canal + Niger . Her cultural documentary film production venture is poised for success. In 2018, she partly assumed the role of Chairman of the Nigerian Postal Service Governing Board, reappointed to serve for the second term in this prestigious position. Her tenure concluded recently due to the dissolution of all boards by the Tinubu administration.
