Funmi Ekundayo is an alumna of the prestigious Harvard Business School, where she attended the General Management Program, the Lagos Business School (Chief Executive Programme), and the IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LL.B) (1995) and a Master of Law degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria (LL.M.) (1998), and she is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Trustees of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), and the Institute of Directors, amongst others.

Funmi is a fellow ICSAN and the first female president of the institute. She is also an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, United Kingdom, and served as the President of the Association of Corporate Trustees of Nigeria from 2014–2016.

Funmi is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow and Council member of the Institute of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers, a Fellow of the Portfolio Management Institute (Chartered), and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria. She was a non-executive independent director on the board of Tangerine General Insurance (formerly Law Union & Rock Insurance Plc). Funmi also served as a non-executive board member of the National Investor Protection Fund and as a member of the National Savings Strategy Scheme. 

Her career trajectory kicked off with the law firm of Bentley, Edu & Co. (in association with IRVING & BONNAR), where she spent nearly a decade in law practice. She later joined Sterling Asset Management & Trustees Limited (formerly NAL Asset Management & Trustees Limited) before moving to United Capital Trustees Limited (formerly UBA Trustees) as head of business development and marketing. After that, she joined STL Trustees Limited (formerly Skye Trustees Limited) as an Assistant General Manager, Business Development, from where she rose to become the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Funmi has distinguished herself in her area of core competence as a seasoned trust specialist engaging in the structuring of complex legal, financial, and trust instruments.
