Dr. Emomotimi Agama

Dr. Emomotimi Agama is the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigeria’s apex regulatory institution for the capital market. A distinguished economist, financial analyst, and management accountant, Dr. Agama brings over three decades of professional experience, including extensive expertise in capital market development, financial regulation, economic strategy, and institutional leadership.

Prior to his appointment as Director-General in April 2024, Dr. Agama served as Managing Director of the Nigeria Capital Market Institute (NCMI), where he led transformative educational programs that shaped regulatory capacity in Nigeria and across Africa. He has held several pivotal roles within the SEC, including Head of Market Infrastructure & Innovation, and has contributed significantly to capital market reforms, policy innovation, and the deepening of financial markets.

Dr. Agama holds a PhD in Economics from Nile University of Nigeria, a Graduate Certificate in Capital Markets from George Washington University (USA), and dual M.Sc. degrees in Economics and Banking & Finance from the University of Benin. He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA, UK), and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS).

He is the Chair of several high-level committees, including the SEC Disciplinary Committee, the Market Outlook Committee, and the Securities Settlement Working Group with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He has also served as a member of the Global Green Finance Leadership Program and has presented at leading international platforms on green finance, capital markets, and inclusive regulation.

Under his leadership, the SEC is driving a bold agenda focused on digital transformation, youth inclusion, investor protection, and innovation-driven market expansion. Dr. Agama’s vision is rooted in the belief that a well-regulated, inclusive, and transparent capital market is key to Nigeria’s sustainable development and long-term economic security.

He is passionate about empowering youth through financial literacy, ethical leadership, and access to investment opportunities, and continues to champion financial integrity, institutional excellence, and global collaboration in regulation.

Dr. Ziyaad Mahomed

Associate Professor, INCEIF University (Malaysia) | SC-OCIS Visiting Fellow (Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, 2024/25)

Prof Ziyaad Mahomed is an internationally recognized Shariah advisor and academic with nearly 25 years of experience shaping Islamic finance structures, policies, and governance. He serves as Associate Professor at INCEIF University and SC-OCIS Visiting Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, focusing on Islamic capital markets, sustainability, and social finance.

He chairs and advises multiple boards globally, including HSBC Amanah (Malaysia), Taj Bank (Nigeria), FBNQuest Asset Managers (Nigeria), Munich Re (Malaysia), Ayady Takaful (Maldives), One17 Capital (Nigeria), and Bank of Maldives. He is also Chairman of the Board at MISFA (Afghanistan) and Director of Mutahid Development Finance Institution (Afghanistan), leading efforts to strengthen financial inclusion through Shariah-compliant and social finance solutions. He has further advised on some of the largest sovereign and corporate Sukuk issuances in Malaysia, Nigeria, and Southern Africa, and consults for international bodies such as the World Bank.

Dr. Ziyaad has worked with regulators and financial institutions in over 20 countries, developing frameworks in fintech, ESG, and value-based intermediation. He has authored and co-authored over 100 academic and professional publications, trained more than 14,000 professionals globally, and regularly contributes to advancing research in Islamic jurisprudence, capital markets, and social finance.

He holds a PhD and Master’s in Islamic Finance from INCEIF, an MBA from South Africa, a BA (Hons) in Finance from the UK, and classical certifications in Islamic law and jurisprudence from South Africa and Jordan.

Basheer Oshodi PhD  

Basheer Oshodi PhD has over 24 years’ work experience in banking, real estate, and academia. He is the Chief Executive of TrustArthur – a fund management company; advisor of a UK Shariah-compliant Real Estate Fund; was Group Head, Non-Interest Banking at Sterling Bank, and set up the non-interest banking window in 2013.  He also set forth the Alternative Bank proposition. He was a member of the Non-Interest Finance Working Group, sponsored by EFInA (DFID programme), and was a member of the SEC Alternative Finance Market Master Plan Committee. Basheer was Head, Non-Interest Finance and Head, Research at EFInA. He was Head, Islamic Banking Risk & Compliance at Stanbic IBTC Bank (a member of Standard Bank Group) and set up the non-interest banking window in 2009. He also initiated products compliant with non-interest finance principles for Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd. He has worked as an investment analyst and business analyst in other capacities. He has attended Said Business School – University of Oxford, University of Pennsylvania, University of Colombia, University of Lagos, London Metropolitan University, University of Buckingham, and Da Vinci Institute – South Africa. 

Basheer is currently the President of the Non-Interest Financial Institutions Association of Nigeria (NIFIAN).

Mr. Jubril Enakele

Mr. Jubril Enakele is the founder and Managing Director of IRON Global Markets Limited. He is also the founder and Chief Executive Officer of IRON Capital Partners Limited; an Africa-focused investment banking franchise based in Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea, South Sudan and Kenya) and a representative office in London.

Prior to founding Iron Capital, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Capital where he maintained oversight over Zenith Securities Limited, Zenith Asset Management Limited and Zenith Trustees Limited. Over the course of his 20+ professional career, he has worked in executive capacities as the Director of Corporate Finance and Client Coverage for sub-Saharan Africa at Deutsche bank AG, London. He has also worked for Standard Bank (London), Citibank (London and Lagos) and Zenith Bank Plc.

As a seasoned thought leader, finance and investment professional, Mr. Enakele has been involved in notable local and international capital market transactions for African Sovereigns and Corporates raising over US$10 billion for Africa-based issuers. He is an alumnus of Saïd Business School, London Business School, University College London and University of Calabar, Nigeria respectively.

He holds professional memberships of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Management, Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria respectively. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (ACSI), UK, and is approved by the Financial Conduct Authority UK (FCA) and the Securities & Exchange Commission, Nigeria.

Jude Onyeka Chiemeka

Mr. Chiemeka is the CEO of Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) a fully owned subsidiary of Nigerian Exchange Group. He has over thirty (30) years of professional experience in Securities Trading, Asset Management, and Investment Banking across African markets. He joined The Nigerian Stock Exchange as the Divisional Head of Trading Business in February 2019 and in 2021 He became the Divisional Head, Capital Markets. Before his current position, he was the Executive Director of Capital Markets at NGX.

Before joining the Exchange, he worked with United Capital Securities Limited, a subsidiary of United Capital Plc. As the MD/CEO of United Capital Securities Limited, he championed the first cross broader trading under the West African Capital Market Integration initiative and was also responsible for Strategy, Market penetration, Product development, and Client Management. He also championed the issuance and listing of the First Eurobonds Mutual Fund($10M) listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited and Wealth for Women Mutual Fund, the first gender-focused mutual fund listed on the Exchange. 

Before joining United Capital Plc, He was the CEO/MD of Chapel Hill Denham Securities where he was responsible for Strategy, Leadership, Product development, and Customer relationship management. He led the firm to rank among the Top 10 brokerage firms responsible for over 70% of market trades with a 4% market share. Before that, he was the CEO/MD of RenCap Securities (Nigeria) Limited a fully owned subsidiary of Renaissance Capital Plc. At RenCap Securities he was responsible for Customer relationship management, Trading, Management reports, Budgets, and clients’ acquisition. 

In 2008, before joining RenCap, he was the Head of Securities Trading at Afrinvest West Africa Ltd where he was responsible for Fixed Income and Equities Transactions across African markets for International and domestic institutional clients. He was also involved in several landmark transactions including the first Global Depository Receipts (GDR) transaction on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Nigerian International Debt Fund, Reverse GDR trades, etc. Before this, he was with Dominion Trust Limited where he started his career in 1994. 

He is a Fellow and Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (FCS), Member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), UK. Fellow of the Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers and Associate of the Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria. 

He is an alumnus of the University of Oxford, UK, Lagos Business School, and the University of Lagos.

Ibrahim Shelleng

Ibrahim Shelleng is a distinguished financial services and climate finance expert with extensive experience in business development, strategic relationship management, risk analysis, and project finance. He currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Climate Finance & Stakeholder Engagement, where he spearheads national efforts to mobilize climate investments, engage key stakeholders, and advance Nigeria’s carbon market development. With a career spanning investment appraisal, ESG advisory, and portfolio management, Ibrahim has played a pivotal role in strengthening financial ecosystems. His leadership experience extends across asset management, banking, and financial services, contributing to innovative financing solutions and sustainable economic development. Before his current appointment, he served as the Head of Business Development at the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC). Ibrahim is a Chartered Stockbroker (ACSI, CISI UK) and holds an MBA.

Temi Popoola

Temi Popoola is the Group Managing Director/CEO of Nigerian Exchange Group, having previously served as CEO of its subsidiary, Nigerian Exchange Limited. A Wall Street-trained investment banker, he began his career in London managing African energy assets before working as an equity derivatives trader at Bank of America Securities in New York.

He later led structured products at UBA and sales & trading at FCMB’s CSL Stockbrokers, advancing foreign investment into Nigeria. At Renaissance Capital, he rose to CEO for West Africa, driving revenue diversification.

An alumnus of the University of Lagos, MIT, and Harvard Business School, with a CFA charter. He serves on the Executive Committee of the African Securities Exchanges Association and chairs both Central Securities Clearing System and NG Clearing Limited, demonstrating his commitment to strengthening market infrastructure and transparency. His expertise spans investment, trading, banking, and global financial leadership.

Korede Demola-Adeniyi

Korede Demola-Adeniyi, widely known as KDA, is the Executive Director at The Alternative Bank, where she provides strategic leadership for the Bank’s operations across the Southern region of Nigeria. Alternative Bank Limited, a subsidiary of Sterling Financial Holdings Company Plc, became a fully licensed non-interest bank in July 2023 after a decade of operations under the Sterling Bank window.

With over three decades of banking experience, Korede has developed deep expertise across treasury, retail and consumer banking, as well as strategic leadership. Since joining The Alternative Bank in 2024, she has led the realignment of the South Bank’s structure, established robust regional frameworks, strengthened branch and agency banking channels, and fostered a culture of performance excellence. Under her leadership, the South Bank has recorded a year-on-year growth in deposits, risk assets, and revenues, driven by disciplined execution and a focus on people development.

Prior to this role, Korede spent two decades at Ecobank, where she held senior leadership positions including Head of Treasury, Nigeria; Group ALM Head, Group Head, Personal Banking; and Head, Consumer Banking. In these capacities, she led large teams across Nigeria and other African markets, managed multi-million-dollar operational budgets, and introduced customer-focused products that drove revenue growth and expanded the bank’s retail footprint. She also played a pivotal role in advancing digital adoption, strengthening customer engagement, and building liability businesses across multiple geographies.

She further broadened her governance and industry perspective as a Non-Executive Director at Old Mutual Insurance Limited, where she contributed to product development and cross-industry collaboration between banking and insurance.

Korede holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Benin and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Lagos. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria (CIoD Nigeria) and has completed executive programs including:

Muhammad Zubair Mughal

Mr. Muhammad Zubair Mughal is the Chief Executive Officer of AlHuda Centre of Islamic Banking and Economics (CIBE), with over 19 years of professional experience in Islamic banking, finance, takaful, microfinance, and halal industries. He holds an M.S. in Islamic Banking & Finance, and an M.Sc. in Mass Communication. Under his leadership, AlHuda CIBE has become a globally recognized institution, providing research, advisory, and capacity-building services in more than 85 countries. He is also the CEO of the Islamic Microfinance Network and the Halal Research Council, and serves as Chief Editor of True Banking magazine. Widely acknowledged for his expertise in Islamic financial engineering, Shariah advisory, and product development, Mr. Zubair has worked with leading international organizations including the World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and various central banks, making significant contributions to the global growth of Islamic finance.

Abdulkadir Abbas

Abdulkadir Abbas, is a seasoned Business Administrator and Capital Market  expert. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1991. He obtained an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2007.He is an Associate member of chartered stockbrokers (ACS) and a fellow of  IFC- Milken Institute  (2018).

He was Head Securities and Investment Services Department (2016-2021), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), having previously served as the Divisional Head, Fixed Income & Equities from 2012 to 2015.

He has overseen the processing of application of the first ever global offering conducted by SEPLAT, an offer which was dual-listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE). Other recent notable transactions include AfDB Medium Term Note programme of N160billion, IFC Nigerian Bond, NMRC N140billion Medium Term Note Programme, Lagos State N275billion Medium Term Note Programme and the first sub-national Sukuk issue of Osun State, amongst others. He also oversee the registration of capital market operators, activities of securities exchanges and other market infrastructures as well as the SEC Regulatory incubation programme for fintechs.

He is currently Director in charge of Securities and Investment Services Dept.having previously headed  Registration, Exchanges , Market Infrastructure and Innovation Department.

His broad-based Capital Market experience which goes as far back as 1997, has seen him serve in various strategic Committees such as the 10-years Capital Market Master Plan Committee, Capital Market Committee (CMC) sub-committee on Non-Interest Finance, Financial Services Regulation Coordinating Committee (FSRCC) sub-committee on Financial Markets, amongst others.

He has attended various Executive Education Programmes on strategic topics such as International Housing Finance and Securitization Course (Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania), Structured Finance training on Capital Markets (IFC-Milken Institute Capital Markets Program, USA), Securitization (Vinod Kothari, India), Fixed Income Securities (New York Institute of Finance), Leadership and Management (Lagos Business School), IFC-Milken Institute( Capital Market Programme) et al.

Prof. AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro

Prof. AbdulRazzaq AbdulMajeed Alaro, mni, FIFP, FCPA, M.IoD, MCIArb, CIAE, CSA is a Professor of Law, Shariah Consultant and internationally certified arbitrator. He had his LL.B with First Class (Hons) in 1993, and LL.M and Ph.D. with distinctions, specializing  in Islamic Law of Banking, Insurance and Capital Market, and has published in reputable journals across the world. In 2021, he delivered the first Inaugural Lecture on Islamic Law of Banking and Finance in the entire West Africa. Prof. Alaro is advisor/consultant to Central Bank of Nigeria, National Insurance Commission, Debt Management Office and Securities & Exchange Commission, among others. He has also been invited to speak in many high impact fora in different parts of the world. In 2023, He won the “Most Outstanding Alumnus in Intellectual Impact” award, of the Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Prof. Alaro is the current Head of Research and Translation Committee of the Union of African Scholars, with headquarters in Bamako, Mali. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of African Muslim Scholars. He speaks and writes fluently in both English and Arabic, and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (FNITI).

Surayyah Ahmad

Surayyah Ahmad is a Founding Partner at Sabou Capital (formerly Aduna Capital); which provides funding and technical support to high-growth SMEs in West and Central Africa with a gender lens. She is currently the Taskmaster spearheading the implementation of the Youth Entrepreneurship Investment Bank (YEIB Investment Funds)—a $300m blended capital vehicle aimed at providing financial and technical assistance to youth-led enterprises in Nigeria. She also supports UK scale-ups through her role as a scale-up advisor at Barclays Eagle Labs.

Additionally, she sits on multiple startup advisory boards and chairs the Laidlaw Foundation Women in Business Board. Surayyah has an MBA from the University of Oxford, specialising in finance and impact investing. She also served as co-chair of the Oxford Africa Business Alliance, working to foster engagement between Oxford’s business community and the African continent.

As an experienced operator, Surayyah founded and successfully exited an e-commerce and fulfilment service company with operations in both Nigeria and the UK. She is deeply passionate about empowering women and driving economic development in underserved markets through private enterprise and investment.

Mohammed Mustapha Ja’afar

Mohammed Mustapha Ja’afar is a Legal & Structuring Analyst at Symbiotics Group, where he specialises in negotiating, structuring, and drafting transaction documents for capital market deals in emerging markets. With a strong focus on Islamic finance, he played a pivotal role in establishing Symbiotics’ first sukuk issuance programme and has contributed to numerous green, social, and sustainability driven transactions.

Prior to joining Symbiotics, Mustapha served as a lawyer at The Metropolitan Law Firm, Nigeria, where he advised on landmark transactions; including the largest sovereign sukuk issuance in West Africa and Nigeria’s the first publicly issued corporate sukuk. His expertise spans Debt Capital Markets, Banking, Islamic Finance, and Structured Finance, with a proven track record in deal structuring, legal risk mitigation, and transaction advisory.

Mustapha holds an MSc in Law & Finance from Queen Mary University of London, where his research focused on equity-based sukuk as Additional Tier 1 capital under Basel III. He is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, with an LL.B from Aston University. A passionate advocate for innovative financial solutions, Mustapha is committed to driving sustainable and impactful investments in emerging markets.

Azeeza Hassan-Jibril (Mrs.)

Azeeza Hassan-Jibril is the Head of the Innovation and Fintech Strategy Division at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigeria. She is a seasoned technocrat and regulator with over 17 years of experience, distinguished by her expertise in leveraging technological innovation to shape financial sector regulation.

Azeeza was a key member of the pioneering team that established the SEC’s Innovation Office in 2019. This office which is now a department, has been instrumental in implementing the Commission’s innovation strategy and fostering collaboration between fintech companies and SEC supervisory units. Her contributions include designing the operational framework for the Regulatory Incubation Program, a quasi-sandbox currently used by the SEC to support innovation in the Capital Market and proposal of new rules.

Throughout her tenure at the SEC, Azeeza has held various roles across multiple departments and served on numerous high-impact committees. These include the Capital Market Master Plan Project Management Committee, Fintech Roadmap Implementation Committee, SEC Regulatory Incubation Implementation Committee, and the Standing Committee on Deepening the Non-Interest Segment of the Capital Market. She serves on several international committees, including the IOSCO Policy Committee on Retail Investors, the IOSCO AMERC Fintech Working Group, and the IFSB Working Group on Sustainability in Islamic Capital Markets. Her contributions continue to shape regulatory frameworks that support innovation, inclusion, and resilience across emerging markets.

A lifelong learner, Azeeza has attended over 100 courses in Finance, Capital Markets, Islamic Finance, Fintech, Monitoring & Evaluation, Management and Leadership. Azeeza holds Bachelors, Master’s Degrees and Post Graduate Diplomas in History, and Business Administration. She is an alumna of Bayero University Kano, the Islamic Banking & Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM), Cambridge University’s Judge Business School, UK and Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). She holds an associate certification in Islamic Finance & certificates in Fintech regulation and Accounting and Business Finance from these institutions. She is also a Member (MNIM) of the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered) and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Mentoring & Coaching Nigeria (CICMN).

Azeeza is a prolific writer and proposal formulator. Several of her proposals have demonstrated impact by successfully being translated into Rules, Guidelines and policies of the Commission.

In her free time, Azeeza has built a rich record of volunteering and humanitarian work for over two decades in orphan care, education, women empowerment and social finance. Currently, she coordinates two multi-state volunteer projects: one focused on social financing to empower women entrepreneurs and another providing scholarships to improve access to primary and secondary education in Nigeria.

Ndako Mijindadi

Ndako has over 18 years’ cognate experience, which covers research, asset management, and investment banking.

Ndako previously worked as a Senior Analyst with Agusto & Co. and was the lead analyst on Corporate and Municipal credit ratings. At Agusto, Ndako provided ratings coverage on over fifteen (15) state governments and their instruments. His role also involved rigorous credit appraisals on notable corporates in Nigeria in key sectors such as real estate, food and beverages, construction and oil & gas.

At Lotus Capital, Ndako heads the Investment and Research Unit where he manages shariah compliant mutual funds, an exchange traded fund, a waqf (endowment) fund and several private client portfolios. He is also part of the team that manages the NGX Lotus Islamic Index. Ndako has led various advisory mandates on the issuance of Sukuk and other non-interest finance instruments, many of which have been landmark transactions in Nigeria. Ndako facilitates trainings for financial institutions, corporates and regulatory agencies on Non-interest finance and financial management.

He is an Alumnus of University of Cambridge Islamic Finance Leadership Programme, the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Programme and the Lagos Business School Senior Management Programme. Ndako has an MSc. in Financial Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and a BSc. in Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He is a Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE). He previously served as an Executive Member of the Fund Managers Association of Nigeria (FMAN) as the chairperson of Ethics, Rules and Regulations. He has also chaired the Technical Committee of the Non-interest Finance Institutions Association of Nigeria (NIFIAN).

Ahmad Usman Kollere

Ahmad Usman Kollere is a seasoned Islamic finance practitioner with nearly two decades of experience in Nigeria’s financial regulatory landscape. Currently serving as Head of the Financial Inclusion Unit at NAICOM, he has played a pivotal role in shaping inclusive insurance policies and advancing Takaful regulation across Nigeria and beyond.

With academic credentials in sociology, public administration, and Islamic banking and insurance, Ahmad holds a Certified Takaful Professional designation and is pursuing a PhD in Islamic Finance & Economics at EUCLID University. His career includes leadership roles in insurance levy assessment & credit control, market development, licensing, corporate governance, and strategic policy formulation within NAICOM. In the last 15 years, Ahmad has participated in a number of Islamic finance study tours in Malaysia, the UK, Pakistan, and Indonesia.

Ahmad has represented Nigeria in numerous international forums, including the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) Malaysia, where he is currently serving as a Technical Committee (TC) Member and chairs key working groups on Recovery and Resolution for Takaful Undertakings Framework and the Revised Risk Management for Islamic Insurance. He has been a speaker and panellist at high-level conferences such as the Accelerating Insurance Market Development in West and Central Africa, AfDB Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, SEC Nigeria–IFSB Malaysia Forum, the Africa Takaful & Non-Interest Finance Conference, the IFSB Workshop for Supervisory and Regulatory Authorities and the 6th AICIF.

His contributions extend to capacity building, regulatory innovation, and financial literacy, with notable engagements at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Securities & Exchange Commission, EFInA, and GIZ. Ahmad is a member of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (MCIPM), the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (UK), the Nigeria Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre (NCCDRC), Abuja, and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).

HON. Justice Muawiyah Baba Idris (RTD.) MCIArb. (UK), MICMC

Hon. Justice Muawiyah Baba Idris (Rtd.) is a retired judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. He has over 24 years of professional experience in law practice, arbitration, mediation and adjudication. He graduated with LL.B (with specialization in Islamic law) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and Barrister-at- Law, (B.L.) from the Nigerian Law School. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.

He was sworn in as a judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on 18th December, 2014. He voluntarily retired from the Bench on 1st

January, 2024 having garnered 9 years of adjudication experience in both criminal and civil matters.

Due to his passion for moving parties to settlement through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) he set up Prudent Arbitrators and Commercial Solicitors. A firm that specializes in arbitration, mediation and early neutral evaluation, with a niche in Sharia commercial matters.

Haruna Musa

Haruna Musa Ph.D was appointed Managing Director/CEO of Jaiz Bank Plc on the 21st of November 2023. He is a seasoned banker with over 28 years of cognate experience in banking across Nigeria and Africa. He is an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Bayero University, Kano, and Cranfield University, United Kingdom. He earned his Ph.D in Islamic Banking and Finance at the Universiti Utara in Malaysia.

At the Cranfield University, Haruna obtained an MSc. in Finance and Management (2008 – 2009). He received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Bayero University, Kano (1997 – 1998); a Post Graduate Diploma in Management earlier from the same University (1994 – 1995), while he holds a Bachelor of Agriculture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1987 – 1991).

Haruna undertook extensive executive-level courses including Advanced Management Program from Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, USA (2023); Making Corporate Boards More Effective – Harvard Business School, Harvard University, USA (2015); Positive Leadership Program – Michigan Ross Executive Education, USA (2014); General Management Program – Cranfield University, UK (2012). He is also an honourary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

Until his appointment as the substantive MD/CEO of Jaiz Bank Plc, he served as Executive Director with GT Bank for eight years, and garnered 22 years out of his 27 years’ wealth of banking experience working for Guaranty Trust Bank Holding Company (GTCO) from March 2001– October 2023.

He commenced his banking profession as Banking Officer at United Bank for Africa Plc from June 1997 – December 1998 and served as a Senior Banking Officer at the FSB International Bank Plc between December 1998 and March 2001. Earlier, he worked at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Abuja, as Agricultural officer II from January 1993 – June 1997.

In October 2015, Haruna assumed the role of Executive Director and Head, Northeast & Public Sector, Abuja Divisions on the Board of GT Bank, a testament to his professionalism and exemplary competence.

He was also appointed as a Non- Executive Director with GT Bank (Cote D’Ivoire Ltd) and Chairman of the Board Audit Committee from March 2015 to October 2023, where he contributed to the turn-around of the Bank from a loss position to consistent profitability.

Dr. Akeem Oyewale

Dr. Akeem Oyewale holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, an MBA from Manchester Business School, United Kingdom, and a Doctorate Degree in Management of Technology and Innovation from Da Vinci Institute, South Africa. He is an alumnus of the Said Business School, University of Oxford, and a certified impact investing expert from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. He also holds a Professional Certificate in Islamic Capital Markets from INCEIF, Malaysia.

Akeem, an Arthur Anderson scholar, has over 20 years of extensive experience in investment banking, credit marketing, trade finance, and sustainable finance. He managed the Stanbic IBTC Nigerian Equity Fund, Nigeria’s largest mutual fund at the time, and was responsible for the launch of the Stanbic IBTC Ethical Fund. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). In addition, he is a member of the Pension Industry Non-Interest Advisory Committee. (PINAC) and currently the second Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS).

He previously served as CEO of Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited, Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Limited, and Stanbic IBTC Nominees Limited, all part of the Standard Bank Group. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Marble Capital Limited and a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Financial Literacy Technical Committee. Under his leadership, Marble Capital Limited launched Nigeria’s first commodities fund (the Marble Halal Commodities Fund, MHCF) and the Marble Halal Fixed Income Fund (MHFIF).

Hamid Joda

Hamid Joda is the Founder, Managing Director, and CEO of TAJBank Ltd, Nigeria’s second licensed non-interest financial institution. With over two decades of banking experience spanning treasury, retail, public sector, and business development, Joda has built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most visionary financial leaders. Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido

Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido (BSc. MSc. PhD. Economics) is a Lecturer, Researcher, Development Specialist, International Trainer, Consultant, Business Leader, Team Builder, Mentor, Problem Solver, and Avid Multitasker. He began his academic career as a Lecturer of Economics at Gombe State University (2006–2014), later joining the International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIIBF), Bayero University Kano from 2014 as a lecturer, researcher, and trainer. He is currently with the Department of Economics, Bayero University Kano, while also serving as a resource person for IIIBF. Lamido has held significant leadership positions in the Muslim community. He has served as an Islamic Banking and Finance Research consultant for national and international organizations including The Khana Group (USA) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). He served as the National President (Amir) of the Muslim Corpers Association of Nigeria (2005–2006) as well as that of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), 2009-2012. He is also a member of the General Purposes Committee of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), the Central Council of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), and the National Working Committee of the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development. Lamido is the Founder of the Zakah and Waqf Foundation, Gombe, recognized as the first and most impactful non-governmental Islamic social finance institution in Northern Nigeria.

Hajara Adeola

Hajara Adeola is the Managing Director of Lotus Capital Limited, the pioneer non-interest asset management company in Nigeria. She is also a Director in Lotus Financial Services Limited, a SEC-licensed issuing house that led the first Sukuk issuance in Nigeria.  Mrs Adeola is the Chairperson of Lotus Bank Limited, a full-fledged non-interest bank licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Hajara Adeola was previously a Director at the London office of UBS Warburg where she headed the Islamic Finance Desk. She has previously worked at BNP Paribas, Andersen Consulting (later known as Accenture) and ARM Investment Managers, where she became the Vice-President and Head of the Research and Financial Advisory Units. In all, she has over two decades of local and international cognate experience in research and analysis, securities issuances, investment management and corporate finance.

Hajara Adeola holds an M. Sc in Finance (1st Class honours) from Durham University with specialization in Islamic Finance. She also holds an MBA in International Management from Exeter University and a BSc in Pharmacology from King’s College, London. She is a West African Fellow of the Aspen Leadership Initiative.

Mrs. Adeola is the first President of the Fund Manager’s Association of Nigeria. She is the Chairperson of the Securities & Exchange Commission’s non-interest capital market 10-year master plan implementation committee, Chairperson of the FMDQ OTC Debt Capital Markets Housing Sub-Co; and a member of the Nigeria Stock Exchange Fixed Income Products Advisory Committee. Hajara is a Director of the Aliko Dangote Foundation and the immediate past President of the Non-interest Financial Institutions Association of Nigeria (NIFIAN)

Rabiu Olowo

Rabiu Olowo, PhD is a dual qualified Chartered Accountant in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He is a Chartered Stockbroker, Chartered Tax Practitioner, Certified Internal Controls Auditor, Member of the Chartered Institute of Directors, ACCA Certified in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) & International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), Certified Fraud Examiner; with an MBA from the University of Lagos and MSC Accounting & Finance from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, UK.

Dr. Olowo served as the 22nd Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State (2019-2023), where he successfully managed the fiscal policy strategy of the 5th largest economy in Africa, during one of the most challenging periods in the world’s history i.e COVID-19.

Before entering mainstream public sector, Dr. Olowo has been an experienced Chief Finance & Audit Executive across Industries, having worked for top multinational organizations including Zenith Bank Plc; British Pharmaceutical Giant’ GlaxoSmithKline; Dutch Global Diary Leader’ FrieslandCampina; Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA UK); Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE, USA); Development Finance Organizations in multiple geographies; with project immersion across Africa, Europe, Middle East, USA.

He has significant experience in Corporate Financial Reporting, Public Accounting & Financial Management, and the development of Corporate Governance frameworks and Internal Control Systems that cut across multiple industries.

Dr. Olowo is a life-long learner. He holds a PhD in Forensic Accounting and Auditing. His numerous research works, including The Future of Finance; Whistleblowing Culture in Africa; Islamic Micro-Finance and Poverty Alleviation etc have been recognized as major contributions in the field of Business and Public Policy.

In 2022, Dr. Rabiu Olowo was named the Public Finance Administrator of the Year in Nigeria.  In 2023, he won the ‘Forty Under 40’ Africa Awards of the continent’s most accomplished and influential professionals under the age of forty years. On Saturday, May 4, 2024, he was honored with the prestigious “Top Chartered Accountant Under 40” Award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), further solidifying his position as a distinguished professional in the field of accounting and development finance.

In recognition of his exceptional leadership and expertise in corporate reporting, he was elected as the Chair of the 41st session of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR).

On the 12th of October 2023, Dr. Rabiu Olowo was appointed by Nigeria’s President – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Executive Secretary / Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

Attahiru Maccido

Mal. Attahiru is the Board Chairman of One17 Ethical Advisory Services Limited and a Director at One17 Financial Services Limited.
Mal. Attahiru is a seasoned Trainer and Consultant in Islamic Banking and Finance, with special expertise in the Islamic Capital Market. Through Buraq Capital Limited, he contributed to the advisory roles for the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN)/Debt Management Office (DMO) on the Series I to VII of FGN Road Ijarah Sukuk.
He previously served as the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Financial Services Limited, a Subsidiary of Lotus Capital Limited, an Islamic Finance Fund Manager, where he also headed the firm’s operations in Northern Nigeria
During his tenure at Lotus Capital, Mal. Attahiru made significant contributions to both the company and the Islamic finance industry in Nigeria. He played a pivotal role in structuring the first Nigerian private Sukuk Al-Istisna issuance in 2010 and developed the first Lotus Islamic Equity Index (2009–2012), which later evolved into the NSE Lotus Capital Islamic Index (NSE-LCII) following a partnership between the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Lotus Capital. He also structured the Ijara Sukuk for the Osun State Government, the first public Sukuk issuance in Nigeria, and worked with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) between 2002 and 2006.
Mal. Maccido has served on several national and international committees. He was a member of the Technical Committee constituted by the Steering Committee on Alternative Finance, comprising representatives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), SEC, DMO, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), and FMJ. He is also a member of the SEC’s 10-Year Master Plan Committee on Alternative Products, and a Technical Adviser on Sukuk Listing to FMDQ OTC Exchange Plc. Additionally, he serves on the Global Advisory Board of MIT Global Group, UAE and Sri Lanka.
He was also instrumental in the introduction and promotion of Islamic finance in Ghana, leading a series of webinars, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder engagements that contributed to building awareness and institutional capacity in the sector.
Mal. Attahiru Maccido is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (Delaware, USA), and a Fellow of the Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals of Nigeria (IIFP).

Umar A. Oseni

Dr. Umar A. Oseni is the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Arbitration Centre. Previously, Dr. Umar A. Oseni was the Chief Executive Officer of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation (IILM), a multilateral financial organization. He was also the Executive Director (Legal and Compliance) and Acting Chief Executive Officer of the IILM.

Dr. Umar is a member of the Governance and Ethics Board of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). He is also a member of the Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts (FRACE) of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Recently, he was appointed a member of the Advisory Board of the Islamic Philanthropy Fund of the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration.

At some point in his career journey, Dr. Umar was an Associate Professor of Law and Regulation of Islamic Finance at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).  Dr. Umar was also a visiting fellow at the Islamic Legal Studies Program of the Harvard Law School, Harvard University. Apart from being a Harvard-certified negotiator and dispute resolution expert, Umar has consulted for numerous bodies in the areas of law and regulation of Islamic finance. With a good blend of both significant academic and industry wide experience in Islamic finance law and dispute resolution, Dr. Umar has completed strategic consultancy works for some United Nations agencies such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM), COMCEC of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group and other government and government-linked agencies. Dr. Umar is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association.

With over 100 publications in Islamic finance law, Islamic legal studies, arbitration, dispute resolution, and related areas, Umar has published widely in refereed journals and books on Islamic finance and law. Umar co-authored the first Textbook on Islamic Finance titled: Introduction to Islamic Banking and Finance: Principles and Practice (United Kingdom: Pearson Education Limited, 2013). He is also a co-author of IFSA 2013: Commentaries on Islamic Banking and Finance, and Alternative Dispute Resolution in Islam (Kuala Lumpur: IIUM Press, 2013). He co-edited Islamic Finance and Development (Cambridge, Massachusetts: ILSP, Harvard Law School, 2014) and Emerging Issues in Islamic Finance Law and Practice in Malaysia, (United Kingdom: Emerald Publishing, 2019. He is also the lead editor of Fintech in Islamic Finance: Theory and Practice (UK: Taylor and Francis, Routledge, 2019), a pioneering authoritative book on the dynamics of financial technology in Islamic finance.  His latest co-authored book is titled, Islamic Contract Law published by the Oxford University Press, United Kingdom (2024). He is also a contributing editor of a forthcoming book titled, Islamic Finance and the Pursuit of Sustainable Prosperity (United Kingdom: Edward Elgar Publishing, 2025).

Dr. Umar received his LLB (Hons) in Common Law and Sharī‘ah from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria; Master of Comparative Laws (with Distinction) and PhD from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He did his postdoctoral fellowship programme at Harvard Law School where he specialized in dispute management. He also holds a Professional Master of Law degree in Financial Laws from the York University, Ontario, Canada.

Mohammed Yunusa

Professor John Gartchie Gatsi was the Dean of the University of Cape Coast School of Business charged with coordinating academic and program development of the school. Before becoming Dean in 2019, he was the head of the Department of Finance. He worked with the Ghana Revenue Authority as Assistant Revenue Officer in the operations department focusing on debt management from 2002 to 2004. He joined the University of Cape Coast as a lecturer in 2007 and was promoted to Senior lecturer in 2012 and Associate professor in 2016. He was promoted to Professor of Finance in 2020. He was the keynote speaker at the entrepreneurship conference in Germany in 2020 and a visiting professor at the University of Groningen, Netherlands in 2023. His professional and academic careers focus on finance, economic management, central bank regulatory management, and fiscal management including petroleum revenue management, tax environment, development finance, Islamic finance, and banking. Muhammad Kabir Muhammad

Aminu Murtala Nyako

Daisy Ekineh

Ms. Daisy Ekineh is a seasoned capital market professional with over 40 years’ experience. She built her career at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where she held various senior roles, including Executive Commissioner (Operations) and Acting Director – General. She is known for playing significant roles in the conception and implementation of several initiatives that deepened and broadened the Nigerian capital market.

She has served in many committees, including the Committee on the Reactivation of the Bond Market and the Information Sharing Sub- Committee of the Financial Services Regulation Coordinating

Committee (FSRCC), which she chaired for nine years. She also contributed to the design of the Capital Market and Regulation Strategies of the Financial Sector Strategy (FSS) 2020 and once held the chairmanship of the Africa and Middle East Regional Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

After her career at SEC, she joined Global Mandate Consulting ltd as Chief Operating Officer and is currently CEO of DSE Advisory Services Ltd, which principally focuses on capacity building and corporate governance. Ms Ekineh was also an Adviser to the Capital Market Masterplan Implementation Council and chaired committees on tax efficiency and incentives for the Nigerian capital market as well as the review of the Nigerian commodities trading ecosystem. Bola Ajomale

Bola Ajomale is an economist, chartered accountant, chartered stockbroker, investment adviser and capital market regulator who has contributed to the development and expansion of Nigeria’s capital market landscape. He is the Executive Commissioner Operations in the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission where he oversees regulation of capital market activity in Nigeria. Prior to this current position, Bola has acquired sound working experience in auditing, stockbroking, credit rating, corporate finance, investment banking, and regulation consulting. Prof. Adam M. Abubakar

Prof. Adam M. Abubakar is a distinguished scholar and practitioner in the field of Islamic Banking and Finance. He is a Professor of Islamic Banking and Finance, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and holds multiple international certifications. These include being a Certified Sharia Adviser and Auditor by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), and a Certified Islamic Arbitrator and Expert (CIAE) by the International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation and Arbitration in Dubai, UAE.

He currently serves in several high-level advisory roles. Prof. Adam is the Chairman of the Pension Industry Non-Interest Advisory Committee under the National Pension Commission (PENCOM), Nigeria. Mounir Bouba

Mr. Mounir Bouba is an Executive Director at ARM Investment Managers, a role he assumed in November 2022. He oversees the firm’s Investment Management Division, alongside Retail, Institutional Asset Management, as well as Operations units. His leadership spans a diverse portfolio of investment products, including Shariah-compliant and ethically guided mutual funds, bespoke private offerings, and the Ministry of Finance Incorporated Real Estate Investment Fund (MREIF).

In 2016, Mr. Bouba co-founded an asset management firm in London through a strategic partnership with Tailor Asset Management, deploying sophisticated portfolio strategies across global markets. After four decades in Europe, he relocated to Africa five years ago, serving as Chief Investment Officer at Coronation Asset Management prior to joining ARM.

Mr. Bouba is a member of the IFRS Sustainability Reference Group and serves on multiple boards, contributing his expertise to the advancement of sustainable finance and governance. He holds dual Master’s degrees with honors in Applied Mathematics and Finance from the prestigious Paris Dauphine University.

Dr. Bello Lawal Danbatta

He is currently Chairman of Agrovest Nigeria Limited, a private National Food Security Initiative and Innovative Agricultural solutions based on Islamic Finance Structures, and a Member of   Stakeholders Advisory Council (SAC) for the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) in New York.   He is a Member of the Accounting and Auditing Board of Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in Bahrain, and has chaired working groups for the issuance of Financial Accounting Standards for Islamic Financial Institutions.

Dr. Bello Lawal Danbatta was the Secretary-General of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) from January 2018 to January 2024, and previously the Director of the Centre of Consultancy and Executive Programmes at INCEIF. He has over 32 years combined experience in the private, academia, as well as in the financial services regulation and supervision sectors across Africa, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He has also been involved in the development and drafting of standards, guidelines and frameworks for capital adequacy, risk management, accounting, auditing, ethics as well as supervision and regulation of Islamic finance for various countries. He concurrently served as member of Basel Consultative Group (BCG) under Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) in Basel, Switzerland and a Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) member for International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) and International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) in New York, USA since 2018.

Dr. Danbatta holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and an MBA in Corporate Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant Fellow with ACCA-UK, a Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA-UK), a Fellow of Certified Islamic Professional Accountants (CIPA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIFP), Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Certified Pension Institute of Nigeria (CPIN), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and International Council for Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE). Dr. Danbatta is a known Islamic banking and finance consultant, and has been active in providing Islamic finance training and consultancy to central banks, securities commissions, deposit insurance corporations and Islamic banks as Director in RIfCon Consulting Group. He also has a number of publications on Islamic banking, corporate governance and earnings management.

In addition to these corporate engagements, he also held the positions of Assistant Professor at Sultan Qaboos University Oman, a Research Fellow at the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) of University Technology MARA (UiTM), Malaysia and Academic Fellow at Insaniah University Malaysia. He has worked with the Highland Bank of Nigeria Plc, Peugeot Automobiles and Securities and Exchange Commission of Nigeria.

Bashir Aliyu Umar

Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar has a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies with specialization in the Sciences of Hadith from the Islamic University of Madina. He is an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies in the Department of Islamic Studies of Bayero University, Kano. He has served as a Special Adviser to the CBN Governor on Non-Interest Banking from 2010-2014, during which the Guidelines for the Regulation and Supervision of Non-Interest Financial Institutions in Nigeria were issued and the first non-interest banks in Nigeria were licensed, and CBN Liquidity Management Instruments were introduced into the Nigerian Money Market. He currently sits on the Financial Regulation Advisory Council of Experts (FRACE) of the CBN as the Deputy Chairman, and is a member of the Takaful Advisory Council of Experts of the National Insurance Commission of Nigeria. He is also a member of the Shari’ah Committee of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation, Malaysia and the Shari’ah Board of the Accounting and Auditing Organisation of Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), Bahrain.

He is the Imam of Al Furqan Mosque in Kano, and the President of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria and the Vice-President of the Union of African Scholars, with headquarters in Bamako, Mali. He was awarded the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).

Ayodeji Balogun

Ayodeji Balogun is the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of AFEX, where he is leading global teams of experts leveraging technology, innovative finance, and inclusive agriculture to connect agriSMEs and smallholder farmers to commodity and financial markets. He is a global executive with a demonstrated history of driving growth and profitability in Africa’s commodities market.

Ayodeji began his stint at AFEX by developing the company’s new market entry strategy in East and West Africa. He then resumed as the Country Manager for AFEX Commodities Exchange Limited in Nigeria, and the Business Lead for Africa Exchange Holdings Limited in West Africa. In both roles, he pioneered the development of a private sector-led commodities exchange and warehouse receipt system, and doubled as the Product Development Manager, leading value chain development in the agriculture Sector, and designing physical and derivative contracts for commodities across markets in Africa.

His interest in commodity trading was stoked early when he began learning about trade in the family business. His first solo run as an entrepreneur was at the age of thirteen when he had to consummate a transaction worth USD 4,000 (at today’s value), and he grew to manage the family-owned commodities trading business, with a turnover of over USD15 million, before joining the MBA program at Lagos Business School. He also founded a haulage business, was part of a mobile service start-up, and part-owned an agribusiness venture.

He holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and a certificate in Creative Leadership from the THNK School of Creative Leadership. He has also graduated from the Global CEO – Africa program of IESE Business School, and the Managing Fast Growing Companies Executive Program of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Ayodeji has almost twenty years of experience trading across West Africa as well as in building and scaling businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa. Sonnie Babatunde Ayere

Dr. Sonnie Babatunde Ayere is the Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of DLM Capital Group, the world’s first Development Investment Bank and a leading diversified financial services firm.

With over 32 years of experience, Dr. Ayere has built an exceptional career across retail banking, corporate credit, corporate finance, securitisation, and asset management. He previously held senior roles at renowned global institutions such as HSBC, NatWest, Sumitomo Mitsui, and Bank of Montreal – Nesbitt Burns in London.

He later joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, where he served as Head of Structured Finance for Africa and Co-Head of Financial Markets for Anglophone Sub-Saharan Africa. During his time at the IFC, he led the development of Nigeria’s domestic bond market between 2003 and 2004. He has also played strategic advisory roles in public finance and corporate restructuring, including the Lagos HOMS project, AIICO’s consolidation, and Bayelsa State’s bond restructuring. Earlier, he helped establish a US$20bn Structured Investment Vehicle and co-structured Aurora Funding Plc, Japan’s first de-linked Balance Sheet CLO, solidifying his global impact in structured finance.

George Nwangwu

Professor George Nwangwu has over 25 years of experience as a lawyer and academic in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He is also a chartered accountant, financial consultant, and public policy professional. He is a leading expert on project finance law and private sector-led finance for infrastructure in Africa. His research in these areas has been cited widely.

Professor Nwangwu served as a DFID/World Bank funded consultant with the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) as Special Adviser to the Director General. He was also PPP Project Coordinator and Head of the PPP Division at the Federal Ministry of Finance, and later a special adviser to the Coordinating Minister of the Economy on PPPs and infrastructure finance.

Currently, he is an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University’s Department of Mercantile Law. To date, Professor. Nwangwu has led transaction teams in the delivery of over 100 privatisation/ PPP/ climate finance transactions worth over USD 20 billion, working either on the side of the public sector or private sector in Africa. Umar Kwairanga

Mr. Adekoya is an Executive Director at IRON, a leading Issuing House in Nigeria licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria (SEC). Mr. Adekoya joined IRON in October 2021 as the pioneer Head, Capital Market where he was responsible for coordinating the general activities of the Capital Market team, driving business initiatives, and leading transaction execution. Prior to joining IRON in 2021, Mr. Adekoya worked for several investment banks in Nigeria, including First Ally Capital Limited (as Head, Corporate Finance), LeadCapital Plc (as Head, Corporate Finance) and Sterling Capital Markets Limited (Now SCM Capital Limited).

Over the course of his career, Mr. Adekoya has been involved in landmark debt and equity capital market transactions for African Sovereigns and high-profile corporations, raising over ₦2.4 trillion for Africa-based Issuers in the Nigerian capital market.

Abdul-lateef Afolabi

Dr. Akeem Oyewale holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, an MBA from Manchester Business School, United Kingdom, and a Doctorate Degree in Management of Technology and Innovation from Da Vinci Institute, South Africa. He is an alumnus of the Said Business School, University of Oxford, and a certified impact investing expert from the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. He also holds a Professional Certificate in Islamic Capital Markets from INCEIF, Malaysia.

Akeem, an Arthur Anderson scholar, has over 20 years of extensive experience in investment banking, credit marketing, trade finance, and sustainable finance. He managed the Stanbic IBTC Nigerian Equity Fund, Nigeria’s largest mutual fund at the time, and was responsible for the launch of the Stanbic IBTC Ethical Fund. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). In addition, he is a member of the Pension Industry Non-Interest Advisory Committee. (PINAC) and currently the second Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS).

He previously served as CEO of Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited, Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Limited, and Stanbic IBTC Nominees Limited, all part of the Standard Bank Group. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Marble Capital Limited and a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Financial Literacy Technical Committee. Under his leadership, Marble Capital Limited launched Nigeria’s first commodities fund (the Marble Halal Commodities Fund, MHCF) and the Marble Halal Fixed Income Fund (MHFIF)

Bolaji is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chapel Hill Denham and CIO of the Nigeria Infrastructure Debt Fund. Bolaji has over 36 years of experience in investment banking, investing and mobile telecommunication.

Chapel Hill Denham is Nigeria’s leading investment bank; its leading alternatives investment manager and impact investment firm focused on areas accretive to Nigeria and Africa’s sustainable development. Chapel Hill Denham led the issuance of Nigeria’s first Sukuk in 2013 for the Osun State Government. It also manages Nigeria’s Largest REIT, NREIT which is Shariah Compliant.

Bolaji spent over a decade within FCMB Group in investment banking and securities trading, until January 2001, when he left to be a co-founder of Econet Wireless Nigeria, now Airtel Nigeria. Bolaji led the capital raising and license bid auction for Econet Wireless Nigeria’s mobile license. The US1.67 billion sale of Econet Wireless to Celtel in 2005, remains Nigeria’s single largest successfully exited private investment. Bolaji founded Chapel Hill, in 2005.

Bolaji is Chairman of Unilever Nigeria Plc and Endeavor Nigeria. He is a Board Member of the United Nations Global Compact and is Co-Chair of the Private Sector Advisory Group on the SDGs in Nigeria, and a Director of Trustfund Pensions. He was immediate past Chairman of Lafarge Africa Plc and a member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Africa Advisory Board. Bolaji is an Economics (Honors) graduate of the LSE.

Daniel Mueller

Daniel Mueller is a versatile corporate finance professional with over 20 years of experience in transaction structuring, credit evaluation, project finance, due diligence, operations, project management, and capital raising.

He joined the Company in 2017 as one of its pioneering staff, acting as Head, Origination & Structuring before being named the COO in 2021 and appointed Executive Director in 2024. He started his career at JPMorgan’s Investment Banking Division in 2000 and served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer (Togo: 2004-2007), then spent over nine years in Nigeria with Deloitte & Touche and Global Emerging Markets before joining InfraCredit.

Daniel Mueller holds a BSc. in Economics (Finance, Public Policy) from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has passed all levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) examination.
