Mustapha Abubakar Gajibo

Mustapha Abubakar Gajibo is a 30 year old Nigerian of Borno State origin. He had his basic and tertiary education in Maiduguri where he studied Mechanical Engineering.

After ten years in renewable energy, he delved into electric vehicle manufacturing in 2017 under Phoenix Renewables, a company founded by him and Sadiq Abubakar.

In 2023, both parted ways taking different business directions which led Gajibo to founding African Motor Works (AMW) – the platform for his electric vehicle manufacturing with expansion into: kitting of vehicles with CNG, LPG & LNG gas systems, and subsequently lithium mining & processing.

The first in Nigeria and Africa to manufacture electric vehicles, he was part of the technical committee set up by NADDC to come up with electric vehicles policy document in Nigeria.

First converting a fossil-fuelled tricycle to fully electric in 2017, he started complete manufacture of tricycles from scratch to finish in 2020.

In 2021 he converted his first seven seater mini bus, this feat inspired the conversion of fifteen more which are used for intra city transport within Maiduguri.

He also built the first fully solar-powered charging station in Maiduguri with a capacity of 60kw, which charges vehicles in 35 minutes.
