Chief Compliance Officer of Taj Bank Limited

Dr. Muhammad Kabir Muhammad is the Chief Compliance Officer of Taj Bank Limited. Before joining the bank, he had served in several senior management roles for nearly a decade at Jaiz Bank Plc, including Chief Strategy Officer and pioneer Chief Financial Officer. He is versed in Islamic Finance, Islamic Accounting, Corporate Strategy, Product Development, Corporate Finance, and Financial Control, having worked for over two decades spanning private equity, investment banking, and a stint in academics in the United Kingdom. As a former conventional investment and commercial banker, he has extensive experience in the financial services industry.

 

Dr. MK has previously managed the structured finance portfolio of an investment bank, where he developed the project finance and credit derivatives business of the firm. He also had an academic stint at Henley Business School, University of Reading, United Kingdom. He is a Chevening Fellow (the most prestigious UK Foreign Office and Commonwealth Fellowship), a John Lloyd Huck scholar (USA), an AAOIFI Certified Fellow (Bahrain), a Charter Holder of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI), United Kingdom, as well as a Chartered Islamic Finance Analyst (CIFA), Kuwait. He holds a BSc Hons. in Accounting and an MSc in International Accounting and Consulting (awarded with distinction) from Bayero University and the University of Reading, respectively. He got his PhD in strategic finance from the Open University, United Kingdom. In addition, he has taken various courses and attended leadership programs in top-rated business schools, including the Harvard Business School (Harvard University) in Boston, Massachusetts.
